Manifesting 101

The beginning of the year is a great time to hit the reset button and get clear about what you want to manifest for the upcoming year.

To start, think about all the areas in your life where you would like to see a change. I tend to focus on personal growth, career, relationships, spirituality, health and wellness, animals, financial goals and healing the planet.

Write down what you want to manifest. Be specific. Once you are clear about what you want, you will be able to take steps to make it make it happen.

Visualize and imagine that what you want has already happened. Tune into how good it feels. If you can see it, you can make it happen.

Don’t let anything come between you and what you want to manifest. For example, I often hear “I can't do this because I don't have the money", or “I can’t take that first step because I don’t have enough experience”.  It's amazing how opportunities open up once you take the first step and commit to your new endeavor.

Begin to cultivate a deeper connection with yourself through meditation. This is when you can relax and trust that you are working in tandem with Universal Energy. Also, meditation is a fertile space where inspiration and new ideas will reveal themselves.

When inspiration hits, act on it! Manifesting is a partnership with the Universe. When you don’t act on an opportunity that comes directly from Universal Energy, you will lose steam.

Finally, as you look at everything that you want to manifest in 2018, learn how to stay positive. The energy that you generate by staying positive brings more lightness to your life. You will notice more and more positive things happening as a result of your positivity.

Let's be adventurous and fearless this year! Let's put ourselves out there and manifest all the things that we have only been dreaming about!

Dreams and Goals

Do you have a dream or goal that seems unreachable? The time to make it happen is now!

The biggest obstacles to achieving your dreams are perfect pictures. Perfect pictures block your creative energy and foster unrealistic beliefs about the way things "should" or "ought" to be.  When you create a perfect picture, you obsess over every detail and exert effort to make it happen.

When you have a goal or intention, you should simply put it out there and let it unfold.

The first thing to do is set a simple goal to provide a starting point and help get you moving.

Write it down so you can come back to it.

Set aside a little time each day to work on this space.

Meditation is a beautiful way to get in touch with your intuition and gain insight into next steps to reach your goal.

Stay in present time so you can remain open to new ideas and experiences.

Find a community of like-minded people to nourish and feed your dream!

Hang out and talk with other people on a similar path or journey. It's a wonderful way to stay motivated and inspired.

Remember, it's never too late to make a dream come true!

A Chakra Rebalancing Meditation

This exercise can be done anytime you feel tired, stressed or stuck.

Make yourself comfortable. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in and exhale out.

Allow your breathing to become more and more relaxed.

Rub your hands together. Feel the energy.

Now take your hands and lightly place them at the base of your spine – the root chakra. This chakra is red.  Your root chakra keeps you grounded and helps you navigate everyday life. Now picture a ball of red light glowing in this area. This is actual energy, not just a picture in your mind’s eye. With each breath start to feel more anchored and secure. Breathe in red light and let this energy rebalance your first chakra.

Now place your hands about two inches below your belly button – the sacral chakra. This chakra is orange. Breathe in healing orange light and direct it to this area. As you continue to flood the sacral chakra with orange energy - let go of any emotional energy, stress or discomfort.  Be here a moment and let the orange energy rebalance your second chakra.

Gently move your hands and rest them on your upper abdomen– the solar plexus chakra. This chakra is yellow. Deeply inhale yellow light into this area and let go of any negative thoughts, emotions and past experiences. Spend some time allowing the solar plexus chakra to rebalance itself.

Next, put your hands on your chest - the heart chakra. This chakra is green and symbolizes self–love and love for others. With each breath, allow more and more love into your heart. Feel at peace as harmony flows through your chest and rebalances your heart chakra.

Now move your hands to your neck – the throat chakra. This chakra is a vibrant blue color. Here is where you communicate your truth to the world and where you express to others the beauty you see. Feel this blue energy soaking into your throat chakra and restoring balance.

Next place your hands on your forehead - the third eye chakra. This chakra is an indigo color. This is your intuition and wisdom center - where you see and align to knowledge. Breathe in indigo and let this energy rebalance your third eye chakra.

Now gently touch the top of your head - the crown chakra. This chakra is purple. This is your connection to Universal Energy – U.E is everywhere and in everyone. Deeply breathe in purple and allow a feeling of oneness and connectedness to rebalance your crown charka and spread down throughout your body.

Now spend a few minutes tuning in to your 7 chakras and experience them healthy, balanced and open.

Continue to breathe. When you are ready gently open your eyes.

Meditation - The Joy of Going Within

When you hear the word meditation what comes to mind? Is it an image of a yogi sitting cross-legged under a tree? Do you believe that you need to sit for an hour or more to get any kind of benefit from meditation?

Meditation is simply the process of quieting the mind so you can feel more connected and peaceful.

There are many techniques you can use to do this and there is no right or wrong way. It really comes down to what works best for you.

For example, after experimenting with different times of the day, I found morning meditations work the best for me. Beginning my day this way allows me to get grounded and in alignment and I notice my day goes much more smoothly.

Some days the path to getting into a mindful state can be different than the previous day. I alternate between guided meditations, focused breath work or just sitting and letting my thoughts flow. It’s important when you are developing a regular meditation practice to stay open and be present to your ever changing needs.

All it takes is 10 - 15 minutes a day! Over time, you will notice that it’s much easier to respond to situations in a calm fashion. You will find yourself more centered, balanced and able to flow and navigate anything that comes your way.

Still a skeptic? Science is validating the benefits of meditation! Harvard conducted an 8-week study and found participants were more relaxed, more peaceful and their brain chemistry had altered.

I could rave on and on about how meditation has changed my life, but I encourage you to try it for yourself: here’s a short guided meditation I made. Enjoy!

Calming Color Meditation

  • Sit down somewhere comfortable
  • Close your eyes and take a couple of nice, deep, gentle breaths
  • Breathe in through your nose and down into your belly
  • Go ahead and choose a color that relaxes you – if you're not sure which color relaxes you see my list below and pick the one that speaks to you...
  • Using this color, create a ball of energy directly over your head
  • Begin to bring this ball slowly down through the top of your head
  • Inhale and let this energy move gently down through your head, neck and shoulders
  • Allow it to wash away tension and distracting thoughts
  • See it continue down the front and back of your chest
  • Gently move this energy down through your abdomen and lower back
  • Continue to release any discomfort and stress
  • Soak in the color and move it gently over your pelvis, hips and thighs
  • Feel the energy move down your legs, relaxing all the muscles
  • With each breath you feel more relaxed, more at peace, and more in tune with yourself
  • Look down at your feet and see the energy glide out through the toes
  • Take a moment to scan your body and become aware of any pain or blocks. Create a ball of golden energy above your head. Allow this gold light to go to the parts of your body that still need healing. Let it absorb and neutralize the energy of these things.
  • Now go ahead and choose a different color. Feel the flow of energy moving from the top of your head all the way down and out your feet. How does your body feel at this new vibration?

I work with many different colors and have found the following to be true for me:

  • Red helps me ground and clears out fear
  • Orange supports self-healing and makes me joyful
  • Yellow keeps me positive and in present time
  • Green helps me stay calm and balanced
  • Blue clears my mind and assists with confidence, clarity and certainty
  • Indigo connects me to my creativity
  • Violet fills me with a greater sense of purpose and keeps me centered
  • Gold aligns me with Universal energy, unconditional love and peace

Experiment with every color so you can become conscious of the vibrations that work the best for your energy system. Different colors will help at different times. And remember, there is no such thing as a bad color!

Grounding Yourself: How to create a grounding cord

One of the first energy techniques I ever learnt was how to create a grounding cord. A grounding cord is an energy connection that goes from your body down into the Earth. This cord acts like an anchor that keeps your body safe and helps you release unwanted energy from your space.

Not only are we picking up energy from external sources, but we are generating our own energy through emotional thoughts, fears, beliefs and past experiences.

When you have too much energy running through your body, it's easy to become stressed out and anxious. Grounding helps your body begin to relax and keeps you in the present moment so that you can respond to situations rather than react.

You can ground yourself anywhere and anytime!

How to Ground

Sit in a comfortable chair with your feet on ground.

Close your eyes and start to focus inwards.

Take a couple of nice deep breaths. Every day is different, some days it's really easy to connect to your breath and feel it move down into your belly, other days, depending on what is going on for you it may be more of a process. Just be gentle and take whatever time you need to experience nice long inhalations.

Relax as you breathe, begin to tune into how your body feels.

Shift your attention down to your first chakra. Chakras are energy centers that reside within the body. There are 7 major chakras throughout the body. The one that we will use to ground ourselves is the first chakra, located near the base of the spine.

Be aware of this area and allow a cord of energy to flow downward from your body: Through the chair you are sitting in, through the floor, passing down through the buildingís foundation and into the soil. Allow your grounding cord to flow down past all the rocks and layers until it reaches the center of the planet.

When the cord reaches the Earth's center, see it connected securely to your first chakra. Now go ahead and extend the cord as wide as your hips and see the entire cord at this new width.

Hollow out your grounding cord and start to let go of any person, place, thought or emotion that appears, allow them to simply drain away. Release any distraction, anxiety and tension down your grounding cord. Breathe, relax and begin to let go. Notice how your body responds to your grounding cord.

Once you get the hang of grounding you can get creative. Some cords I like to use are a waterfall, redwood tree, or any tree for the matter as well as a beam of light.

Just see whatever you use begin at your first chakra and drop down to the center of the planet.

Insight through Intuition

More and more tech companies are doing what they can to help employees handle stress and unplug.

There is widespread recognition that meditation and mindfulness enhance performance and teamwork. Even companies outside of the tech world, like Safeway and Clif Bar, have found real tangible benefits to programs like exercise, meditation and yoga.

While a daily meditative practice is beneficial in terms of cognitive performance and reducing stress, it will also help quiet your mind so you can be open to your intuition.

Intuition is insight that comes to you from out of the blue. It’s when you know the answer to something without having to follow all of the logical steps to reach it.  You may have also heard it referred to as a “gut feeling”, “sixth sense’, or knowingness.

We sometimes discount our intuitive abilities because it’s hard to trust the source of this information.

Have you ever been in a situation where a question was asked and you immediately received the answer? You might not have given the answer because you couldn’t trust or verify the answer. Later you found out that you were spot on!

Learning how to develop your intuition is one of the best gifts you can give yourself.

Exercises to Tune Into & Trust Your Intuition

  1. Meditate daily!!
  2. When you are asked a question, keep track of the first answer that pops into your head. Write down the answer if you are not comfortable verbalizing it. Compare your written answer to the correct answer. See how often you are right!
  3. When the phone rings, before you look at the caller id or pick up your phone, say the name of who you think is calling out loud (no cheating with ringtones!). See how often you are right!
  4. Think about someone you know. See them clearly in your mind. Notice how long it takes the person to contact you or for you to run into them.

The more you use your intuition, the more you will notice the benefits! You will get more confident making big decisions and begin to trust yourself even if others can’t quite see the logic.
