Break the Cycle of Boredom

Last week, I re-watched one of the newer Star Trek movies.

In this particular movie, the scene opens with Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) sitting in the Enterprise bridge. 

Kirk and his crew are on a space mission and they have been traveling for years.

Each day is tedious and a repetition of the previous day. Kirk is depressed, lonely and bored.

Does this sound familiar? Are you stuck in a cycle of tedium? Do you feel that life is passing you by?  

If this is the case, it might be a sign that something in your life is misaligned spiritually and that it's time to make a change. 

Common Feelings of Misalignment
-Feeling stuck
-Boredom
-Monotony
-Negativity
-Fear of trying new things
-Feeling blocked
-Feeling disconnected from your intuition
-Feeling shutdown

The first step in getting realigned is to acknowledge that there is a problem, that something is out of sync.

Tune into yourself to get clarity on what's not working. Take notes, write down the problem. Keep a journal.

Anytime you are about to make a change in your life, it’s a good idea to get an intuitive reading. Don’t make changes out of panic or because you’re reacting to something. You should make intentional changes that are guided by your higher self.

Take action to create your change. Even small steps in the right direction make a big difference.

Finally, you should accept that continual change is a part of life and get comfortable with the process.

Dreams and Goals

Do you have a dream or goal that seems unreachable? The time to make it happen is now!

The biggest obstacles to achieving your dreams are perfect pictures. Perfect pictures block your creative energy and foster unrealistic beliefs about the way things "should" or "ought" to be.  When you create a perfect picture, you obsess over every detail and exert effort to make it happen.

When you have a goal or intention, you should simply put it out there and let it unfold.

The first thing to do is set a simple goal to provide a starting point and help get you moving.

Write it down so you can come back to it.

Set aside a little time each day to work on this space.

Meditation is a beautiful way to get in touch with your intuition and gain insight into next steps to reach your goal.

Stay in present time so you can remain open to new ideas and experiences.

Find a community of like-minded people to nourish and feed your dream!

Hang out and talk with other people on a similar path or journey. It's a wonderful way to stay motivated and inspired.

Remember, it's never too late to make a dream come true!

 

What are Chakras?

Chakras are subtle energy centers found in the body that communicate energetic information between your body and your soul. 

There are seven major chakras in your body. Each chakra has a different vibrational quality and function to keep you aligned and healthy.

Chakras regulate the flow of subtle energy throughout the body. When a chakra is balanced you feel happy and harmonious. When a chakra is blocked or imbalanced it will affect your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing.

An Introduction to The Chakra System

First chakra (Root Chakra). Color Red. Location: Base of your spine.

The first chakra relates to life and survival in the physical world, including where you live, where you work and how you navigate day-to-day life.
The first chakra facilitates grounding and stability. Grounding acts as an anchor for the body and helps you deal with stress and problems in a calm and balanced way. Grounding also protects your body from being overwhelmed by the higher frequencies in the upper chakras.
 
Second Chakra (Sacral Chakra). Color Orange. Location: Belly button.

The second chakra relates to your feelings, sexual energy and emotions. By tapping into and not blocking your emotions, you allow a more harmonious flow of energy to move throughout your body. 

Third Chakra (Solar Plexus Chakra). Color Yellow. Location: Solar Plexus.

The third chakra is in the solar plexus and relates to your personal power and how you run your energy. It deals with issues of willpower, purpose and action. 

Fourth Chakra (Heart Chakra). Color green. Location: Chest.

The fourth chakra relates to love, compassion, self-acceptance and relationships.  The heart chakra is your spiritual center and is the gateway between the lower (body) chakras and the higher (spirit) chakras.

Fifth Chakra (Throat Chakra). Color bright blue. Location: Throat. 

The fifth chakra relates to creativity, communication and the ability to speak your truth. It allows you to become aware of your inner voice so you always know what is best for you.

Sixth Chakra (Third Eye Chakra). Color indigo. Location: Center of your head.

The sixth chakra is the link between your inner world and your outer world. The sixth chakra is also known as the third eye, a subtle energy center that deals with psychic abilities, intuition and wisdom. 

Seventh Chakra (Crown Chakra). Color Violet. Location: Top of your head. 

The crown chakra connects you to your spiritual energy. This chakra is associated with knowledge, understanding, awareness and your relationship to the divine.  It allows you to be at one with the Universe and experience the interconnectedness of life.

The more you know about your chakras, the more you can stay connected to your life force energy! When your chakras are clear and unblocked, your energy will flow more smoothly and you will notice more energy and vibrancy in your life. You will start to feel more empowered, calm and peaceful in any situation and at any time.

Insight through Intuition

More and more tech companies are doing what they can to help employees handle stress and unplug.

There is widespread recognition that meditation and mindfulness enhance performance and teamwork. Even companies outside of the tech world, like Safeway and Clif Bar, have found real tangible benefits to programs like exercise, meditation and yoga.

While a daily meditative practice is beneficial in terms of cognitive performance and reducing stress, it will also help quiet your mind so you can be open to your intuition.

Intuition is insight that comes to you from out of the blue. It’s when you know the answer to something without having to follow all of the logical steps to reach it.  You may have also heard it referred to as a “gut feeling”, “sixth sense’, or knowingness.

We sometimes discount our intuitive abilities because it’s hard to trust the source of this information.

Have you ever been in a situation where a question was asked and you immediately received the answer? You might not have given the answer because you couldn’t trust or verify the answer. Later you found out that you were spot on!

Learning how to develop your intuition is one of the best gifts you can give yourself.

Exercises to Tune Into & Trust Your Intuition

  1. Meditate daily!!
  2. When you are asked a question, keep track of the first answer that pops into your head. Write down the answer if you are not comfortable verbalizing it. Compare your written answer to the correct answer. See how often you are right!
  3. When the phone rings, before you look at the caller id or pick up your phone, say the name of who you think is calling out loud (no cheating with ringtones!). See how often you are right!
  4. Think about someone you know. See them clearly in your mind. Notice how long it takes the person to contact you or for you to run into them.

The more you use your intuition, the more you will notice the benefits! You will get more confident making big decisions and begin to trust yourself even if others can’t quite see the logic.

THE SIXTH CHAKRA

 OFFICIAL NAME: Brow chakra

WHERE IT IS IN THE BODY: Center of the forehead

COLOR: Indigo

This chakra is located in the center of the forehead and is the link between your inner world and your outer world. The sixth chakra is also known as the third eye, a subtle energy center that deals with psychic abilities, intuition and wisdom.

WHEN YOUR SIXTH CHAKRA IS BALANCED IT HELPS

  • Keep an open mind about things
  • Keeps your energy and awareness in the present moment
  • Find a deeper meaning in life and see the big picture
  • Receive information and guidance through dreams
  • Develop psychic abilities such as clairvoyance (clear seeing) and precognition (the ability the know the future).

HOW TO TELL IF YOUR SIXTH CHAKRA IS BLOCKED

  •  Confused and in a fog

The fifth chakra is the first of the upper spirit- focused chakras. It’s located in the throat and relates to creativity, communication and the ability to speak one’s truth. It deals with the way you express yourself and allows you to become aware of your inner voice so you know what is best for you.

WHEN YOUR FIFTH CHAKRA IS BALANCED IT HELPS

  •  Express your beliefs, opinions and thoughts
  • Verbalize your dreams and goals
  • Become attuned to non-verbal ways of communicating like telepathy
  • Pragmatic Intuition – you automatically know the answer to something
  • With the psychic ability clairaudience – the ability to hear spirit (ringing in your ears)

HOW TO TELL IF YOUR FIFTH CHAKRA IS BLOCKED

  • You are critical and judgmental
  • You like to control others

  • The more secure you are, the more confident you feel. This allows you to get out of your comfort zone to have new experiences
  • Own your information & trust your gut instincts
  • Not take on invalidation from others
  • Develop self- discipline to stick with something and get good at it

HOW TO TELL IF YOUR THIRD CHAKRA IS BLOCKED

  • You believe that you are powerless & see yourself as a victim
  • You imagine other people think the worst of you and experience doubt, anxiety & mistrust.
  • Fear of failure
  • Overactive ego that leads to power struggles, aggression and domination
  • Very goal driven (define success through accomplishments and accolades)

HOW TO TELL IF YOUR THIRD CHAKRA IS TOO OPEN OR TOO CLOSED

Someone with a tightly closed third chakra (personal power) would be terrified of confrontation, while another who is more open, may thrive on it.

Having a balanced third chakra will allow you to feel good about yourself and get aligned to your life purpose.
